This specification covers an aluminum alloy in the form of extruded bars, rods, shapes (profiles), and tubing.These extrusions have been used typically for structural parts requiring a combination of high tensile strength and moderate fatigue strength, but usage is not limited to such applications.Certain design and processing procedures may cause these products to become susceptible to stress-corrosion cracking; SAE ARP 823 recommends practices to minimize such conditions.
