This slide presentation outlines a study to: investigate how storage tanks impact waterquality;evaluate and assess all 50distribution tanks;design modifications for reservoirsand elevated tanks; and, study mixing options for standpipes. The general approach involved:reservoirs, tanks with Aspect Ratios (H/D) ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿ 1;use the split design as in the Higdon tests;standpipes, tanks with Aspect Ratios (H/D) ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿ 1;three nozzles located along a vertical plane will be sufficient;locate the lowest nozzle at ¿¿¿¿ the elevation of the averageHWL;locate the top nozzle just below the average LWL;increase the nozzle diameter with the increase in elevation;decrease the effective diameter with respect to themaximum allowable head loss;use Duckbill Checkvalves;allows for reduction in effective diameter; and, provides flexibility to meet target velocities at lower thanexpected flowrates. Includes table, figures.
