Tools such as artificial neural networks (ANN) could helpoperators in selecting operating conditions in response to widely varying raw water quality, to achievefinished water quality goals as well as to meet the desired plant capacity. This paper gives a briefoverview of ANNs and their use in predicting the performance of microfiltration/ultrafiltration when treating raw water withwidely varying quality. Includes extended abstract only, table, figures.
