The term glass ceiling describes the invisible barriers that women and minoritymen confront as they approach the top of the corporate hierarchy. It has become asymbol of the barriers in policies and practices that have blocked theadvancement of these groups into decision-making positions. The Glass CeilingCommission is a Presidential Commission established to study these barriers andto issue recommendations for eliminating these hindrances. This paper presentssummaries/excerpts from the Glass Ceiling Commission's fact-finding reports andrecommendations.
