On May 19, 1994, the Senate passed S. 2019, which would reauthorize the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA). Originally introduced by Senator Max Baucus (D-Mont.) as S. 1547, the bill that was voted on as S. 2019 brought to a close a long and difficult process in the Senate to pass an SDWA bill.
