The various uses and configurations of globe and angle poweroperated check valves are discussed and illustrated by a series of detailed drawings. The various applications of check valves discussed include sustaining back pressure, sustaining suction pressure, controlling discharge pressure, sustaining differential pressure, remote throttling, and rate-of-flow control. In some cases, the addition of a simple control device to a check valve can obviate the need for a costly variable-speed pump. Includes figures.
