Full Description
The "mild steel" in this new AWS standard refers to low-carbon (less than 0.25% carbon) steels such as ASTM A 53, A 106, A 135, A 179, A 524, A 587, and API-5L, Grades A25, A and B, and X42. Pipe sizes to be welded using the procedures of Guide for Welding Mild Steel Pipe (D10.12M/ D10.12:2000) are those not greater than DN 200 (NPS 8) maximum, will wall thicknesses up to 13 mm (0.5 in.) maximum.
Examples of applications where D10.12M will be particularly useful are piping systems such as: Low pressure heating Air conditioning Refrigeration Water Supplies as well as some gas or chemical systems. Welding techniques for procedures such as Preheating Joint preparation Alignment and positions Fittings Root and hot passes are provided for SMAW, OAW, GTAW, and GMAW.
